Time for Takeoff

Is this real?! Do I have a site and you are reading a blog post I wrote?!

**Deep breath**

**Wipes tears of joy away**

Let’s talk about the trepidation of getting started! It is no joke.

Do I have something to say? Too much.

Who am I to say it? Who knows, but we’re about to find out!

Am I the cheerleader and hype women women (and anyone who considers themself an other) deserves? I really really hope so! I aim to grow in my learning, understanding, appreciation, and uplift of women everywhere with every passing moment.

With the million emails of ideas I’ve sent myself over the last few years with the subject line ‘JHFS’ —and the nights I’ve fallen asleep walking through career advice and perspectives in my head— I’ve built up quite a list of content and projects to cover here.

Getting started on a new project is tough. So let’s talk about that—- here’s how I get started.

  1. I build the perfect place that suits all my million quirks and issues (I need a million plugs cause all my tech dies lol, I need pillows, I need bright colors, natural light, an Amazon Echo I can yell out song requests to, and more). I cover the wall in pictures and quotes, and I know I can get ideas/be productive. Check out my latest of a million home office set-ups. I kid you not, this one feels better than ALL of the rest, even though it’s just in the corner of my sons’ playroom!

2. I set my intentions with a playlist (don’t over-think the lyrics lol)…only one or two have to hit for it to be effective! For whatever reason, these are the songs that resonated with me to finally stop ‘thinking about’ and ‘planning’ my site vs. just LAUNCHING IT! Warning: This playlist is explicit (not every song, but plenty haha—- will definitely be appealing to r&b and hip hop fans primarily)!

  • Listen to my JHFS ‘JUST GET STARTED ALREADY’ Spotify Playlist here!

3. Temperature set to 68 degrees. No more no less. Who can relate?

4. Clean surroundings—- or shut the door(s) to keep stressful messes out of sight!

5. Acquire the gear/items needed for longevity: Sharpie S Gel pen, Paperage notebook, Polar seltzer water (ideally the seltzer’ade line!), some type of disco ball/something sparkly, and of course, mental health supplements: LEXAPRO and ADDERALL. <3

AND JUST LIKE THAT (no, I don’t watch that show—- but I loooooove Sex and the City)….I have my first blog post! Wow, it feels as great as I thought! I love you all!

Jamie Hawk

I am Jamie Hawk—-a dynamic boy mom (who worships her own mom)—-and has experienced the miraculous fortune of marrying a guy who has never made her feel like she was ‘too much’ (all while having an extended family that also made me feel like doing the MOST, was not too much at all). I am not religious, but I am called to wear myself out completely trying to make sure that young women (especially those of color who are really presented with unique challenges) are given all of the support, perspective, and information they deserve to intentionally build the lives they want and deserve. This platform is intended to collect and disseminate priceless multi-generational knowledge, and supply consistent guidance for the incoming generation of women.
